Hill hails battling Dale

Rochdale boss Keith Hill praised his players after they came from a goal down to draw 1-1 with Greater Manchester neighbours Oldham. After only one win from their last nine games, Hill called on his players to show greater responsibility following their midweek draw at Carlisle. And he was pleased with the response as Matt Done cancelled out Cedric Evina's opener. "Oldham dominated for the first 20 minutes but I thought we were excellent after that and the second half performance is something we can really build on and our fans can go home very pleased with the performance," said Hill. "We possibly could have had all three points because in the second half we were brilliant and the players performed and took that responsibility. "After the first 20 minutes, when we settled down, we played some educated football on what was a bad pitch. But in the second half we probably deserved more from that performance. "At half-time I just said `well done`. I said it was absolutely superb that we were showing such a fighting spirit and the players showed what I believe, as a football manager, they should be doing. "I thanked them for turning up and making me not look like a bad manager because I'm not a bad manager, I'm an excellent manager and they are excellent players."
