Hill fumes over Orient penalty
Rochdale manager Keith Hill was disappointed with referee Kevin Wright's decision to award a penalty which cost his team the lead in their 2-1 defeat at Leyton Orient.
Dale broke the deadlock at the end of an even first half when Brian Barry-Murphy, wide out on the right, found an unmarked striker Chris O'Grady and the striker finished clinically.
The Londoners soon drew level when Nicky Adams upended Dean Cox and Ben Chorley fired home the resulting penalty.
And Orient went ahead with a neat move featuring Matt Spring and captain Stephen Dawson that split Rochdale's defence and allowed midfielder Cox to race clear and beat keeper Josh Lillis But Hill believes the spot-kick should not have been awarded and called for referee Wright to explain his decision.
Hill said: "I think anyone with an honest appraisal of this game would agree that we should be going home with at least a point, possibly three because a referee's decision has changed the course of the game."
He added: "The referee has a job to do and I fully respect the job they do but they should be made accountable via the media as well as the Football Association, the Football League and the Referee's Association. I would like him to explain his decision to the media. I am sure that everyone else in this football ground did not see that as a penalty. I can not complain too much because I do not want to receive a letter from the FA."
