Hill: Rochdale passing to promotion

Published: 14 Mar 2010 - 12:57:00

Dale, to a man, were excellent throughout, but none more so than Tom Kennedy. The defender twice hit the woodwork in the first half while Chris O'Grady, Chris Dagnall, Gary Jones and Jason Taylor would have all been on the scoresheet but for a brilliant display from keeper David Button. Kennedy's free-kick led to the long overdue winner after 62 minutes as Joe Thompson headed home at the far post with his first touch after coming on as a substitute. Hill said: "Promotion? Well, that's been on the agenda since the first day of the season, and now we're passing with precision towards it. We've been top since December 1 and the players are embracing the pressure. "We were exceptional. In possession we are better than any other team in this league. We were never in trouble. What's more, we kept a clean sheet without Craig Dawson, who should be fit for next week."
