Dire news for Dagnall

Rochdale striker Chris Dagnall faces the prospect of spending several months on the sidelines after damaging cruciate ligaments in last weekend's game against Macclesfield Town.

After seeing a specialist the 21-year-old former Tranmere forward was told the bad news, but he refuses to be too downcast.

He told Dale's official website: "The surgeon said that the damage is very similar to Michael Owen's, and I suppose if it's good enough for him it's good enough for me.

"It's really frustrating especially as it was a nothing sort of challenge which led me to twist the knee.

"Because the knee is still so swollen I won't be having the operation for a week or so and then I'll be getting my head down and working as hard as I possibly can to come back as soon as possible."
