Deja vu for Dale as Glovers prosper

Rochdale fell to their second successive 1-0 defeat as Luke Freeman's goal midway through the second half clinched all three points for Yeovil in a closely fought contest at Spotland. The teams traded half chances inside the opening five minutes, Gary Jones' thumping drive forcing Stephen Henderson into a save and Sam Williams making the most of the swirling wind to get goalside of Craig Dawson only to see his shot blocked by Josh Lillis. Dale took control and went close when Dawson headed Brian Barry-Murphy's corner wide of the upright, before Jones scuffed an effort from the edge of the area having been teed up by Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro. Yeovil finished the opening period in the ascendancy but rarely threatened Lillis' goal, Owain Tudur Jones' 25-yard effort the best they produced before half-time. Substitute Andy Williams was close to turning home Sam Williams` shot for the Glovers, while at the other end Jason Kennedy struck a post with a snap-shot from Joe Widdowson's delivery. The visitors finally registered the only goal of the game in the 66th minute when Tudur Jones' strike was turned onto a post by Lillis and Freeman slid the rebound into the net. Dawson sent a header against the crossbar in the 86th minute as Dale pushed for an equaliser while Yeovil had strong claims for a penalty turned down in injury time when Marcus Holness brought down Freeman.
