Manchester United goalkeeper Tom Heaton has joined Rochdale on loan until the end of December.

The 23-year-old has spent more than a decade at Old Trafford but has still to make his first-team debut for United.

However, he started 19 games for Swindon Town during a loan spell with the Robins four years ago before featuring in 24 matches for Cardiff City last season.

Heaton has been on loan at QPR since the beginning of this season but started only two matches for Jim Magilton's team, both in the Carling Cup.

He told Dale's official website: "I'm looking to improve and develop and hopefully help get some wins for the team."
