Dale explain Higginbotham loan

Rochdale assistant boss Dave Flitcroft has admitted that Kallum Higginbotham has been allowed to join Accrington Stanley on loan to gain much-needed first-team action.

The 19-year-old has made just a handful of appearances for Dale this term, having already spent a month with Accy a couple of months ago.

Flitcroft told the club's official website: "To be fair we don't want to lose Kallum.

"He is a young player that we identified for development and that remains the case. What he needs though is games.

"He just wants to be involved in the first team and he is not guaranteed that here at the moment.

"We don't want players that are unhappy so going there and getting some games under his belt will hopefully do him a world of good."
