Dale ride luck to beat Quakers

The hosts, who parted company with Colin Todd after Saturday's draw at Grimsby, started brightly and Kevin Gall could have had a hat-trick in the first half.[LNB]The Quakers failed to take their chances, however, and they were made to pay on the hour mark when Rochdale substitute Will Buckley fired in at the near post from close range after Darlington's defence failed to clear a Tom Kennedy corner.[LNB]Dale had lived dangerously at times and Simon Whaley came to his side's rescue with a goalline clearance to keep out an Ian Miller header in the 50th minute.[LNB]Kenny Arthur had been the busier of the two keepers as the Dale stopper tipped a curler from Jamie Devitt over the bar seconds before Miller's effort.[LNB]But the points were sealed in the 80th minute when a superb right-wing cross from Whaley found Chris O'Grady at the far post and Darlington keeper Russell Hoult was stranded as O'Grady's volley flew in from eight yards.[LNB][LNB]
