Dale dominate to claim derby win

The hosts came close to scoring in the opening exchanges when a clever touch from Chris O'Grady sent Chris Dagnall in on goal, the striker edged out by Efe Sodje as he prepared to pull the trigger. Bury's best opening fell to Ryan Lowe who shot into the side-netting after Kenny Arthur parried David Worrall's effort. After the break, Rochdale posed most of the questions and when Will Buckley got away from Paul Scott and crossed towards the back post in the 58th minute, Joe Thompson scuffed a shot beyond Bury's Wayne Brown to give the hosts the lead. Dagnall made it 2-0 in the 73rd minute, racing on to Tom Kennedy's pass and beating the offside trap. He drew Brown from his line before slotting past the goalkeeper. Dale were awarded a spot kick in the 79th minute when Paul Scott felled Buckley and Kennedy converted for a third.
