Dale confirm Dawson transfer request

Rochdale have rejected a second transfer request from defender Craig Dawson, the club has confirmed. Earlier on Tuesday, a club spokesman insisted that no request had been submitted from Dawson or his agent despite continued interest from Middlesbrough, which sparked an initial transfer request in June. However, Dale boss Keith Hill has confirmed the player's intention to leave and acknowledged Boro were in the running, but he maintains last season's League Two Player of the Year will not be going anywhere until the Spotland club's valuation is met. "A second transfer request has been submitted by Craig Dawson," Hill told the club's official website. "As a former player I understand his desire to play at a higher level and I'm quite sure that Craig will do just that some day. "From Craig's point of view it probably is disappointing we haven't managed to negotiate a deal with Middlesbrough but that is just part and parcel of being a professional football player. "I speak with Craig on a regular basis and he does want to play at a higher level and he has said he would like to join Middlesbrough, but it isn't going to happen while the valuation isn't being met. Middlesbrough know what the valuation is and if they meet it Craig Dawson will be sold."
