The Spotland outfit have not won a promotion since 1969 and have resided in the bottom tier of English football since 1974. Keith Hill's talented young side lost out to Stockport in last year's League Two play-off final and lost 2-1 on aggregate to Gillingham in the semi-finals this term. However, Dunphy told the club's official website: "The last couple of years have not only seen an astronomical rise in our fortunes on the pitch but have also raised expectation levels and perhaps sometimes we forget far too easily the many years of struggle. "We all accept that we have been starved of success and that was highlighted the other week when a supporter asked if the club were doing anything to mark our 40th anniversary of winning promotion. "Perhaps it is that starvation that has bred impatience in us to want immediate success and in turn that failure to do so has evolved into the frustration of facing another year in League Two. For me there is no failure, we are building slowly to reach our goals."
