Dale boss upbeat despite defeat

Second-half strikes from Reuben Reid and Ryan Taylor put the Millers in control, meaning Adam Le Fondre's strike proved to be no more than a consolation. Dale remain in third place but missed the chance to close the gap on Brentford and Wycombe, who played out a 3-3 draw. "It's not all doom and gloom for us, we're third, we're competing at the top end of the table and there's everything to play for. We've only lost 10 games all season, so I'm sure this defeat is not a sackable offence," said Hill. "I cannot commend the lads highly enough. I know we have been beaten, but it was another massive effort from the players. There just wasn't the urgency and the energy we needed from them. "On days like that you are looking for a score draw. I didn't feel we were ever in it to win it. We wanted to win it, but the game was going nowhere when we conceded from a set-piece that we should have defended better."
