Dale boss slams Spotland surface
Promotion-chasing Dale are currently third in the league but Hill said the pitch did his side no favours after Rotherham beat them 2-1 on Saturday.
It was only Rochdale's fourth home reverse of the season, but Hill said: "The pitch was rubbish.
"For the type of football that we try to play surely it's supposed to help us but it just wasn't acceptable. It's not an excuse but it was bobbly.
"I'm not trying to blame the groundstaff who work tirelessly but it's not acceptable from the point of view of how we try to play, so we might have to change tactics a little."
