McShane withdraws from squad

Published: 31 Aug 2010 - 16:30:33

Republic of Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni has been dealt another blow ahead of Friday's Euro 2012 qualifier in Armenia following the withdrawal of defender Paul McShane.

The 24-year-old Hull player has been ruled out with a hamstring injury and has returned to his club for treatment.

However, McShane could return for next Tuesday's home clash with Andorra if his problem clears up.

He joins Damien Duff, Keith Andrews and Keith Treacy, who were all named in the original squad, on the sidelines, while Ipswich defender Darren O'Dea is awaiting the result of a scan a knee injury.
