McClean gets Ireland call-up for upcoming friendly

Sunderland winger James McClean was on Monday called up by Euro 2012 finalists Republic of Ireland for next week's friendly with the Czech Republic.

The 22-year-old former Derry City player, who has been in fine form for the Black Cats since being given his chance by manager Martin O'Neill, has been drafted in along with Derby midfielder Paul Green.

McClean, born in Londonderry, has been given clearance by FIFA to play for the Republic in preference to his native Northern Ireland.
