Sean St Ledger is hoping a second Wembley appearance in a little more than six weeks will help place him in the shop window.
The Republic of Ireland defender has set his sights on a place in Giovanni Trapattoni's team for Wednesday night's friendly against England as a difficult season draws to a close. St Ledger spent the end of the campaign on loan at Millwall from parent club Leicester, who have told him he is free to leave, and played in the Lions' 2-0 FA Cup semi-final defeat by Wigan.
"I have been told that I can leave Leicester, so these games are obviously a bit of a shop window for me," he said.
"I have not played too much, so in a sense I have got something to prove a little bit.
"I didn't play very much last season, so I am very fortunate to have these games that are coming up, and England is obviously a very big one."
St Ledger made seven appearances for Millwall including that trip to Wembley, but is keeping his options open for the future with even a move abroad something he would consider.
He said: "Definitely. I am open-minded about going anywhere - I think you have to be. We will just have to wait and see. I will weigh up my options and hopefully my agent can produce something."
In the circumstances, glamour friendlies against England and Spain either side of Georgia's visit to Dublin and the World Cup qualifier against the Faroe Islands on June 7 have come as something of a bonus for the former Peterborough trainee, who is keen to take up Trapattoni's challenge to his players to prove they are every bit as good as their English counterparts.
St Ledger said: "It's a motivation when you go up against any team. The player you are playing against, you want to try to better and if all 11 players do that, nine times out of 10, you will win a football game.
"That's what we are here to do, is to win football games. Whether they are English, Scottish, German, it doesn't really matter."
