Kevin Doyle and Liam Lawrence fired the Republic of Ireland to a 2-1 victory as World Cup finalists Paraguay tasted defeat in Dublin.

Doyle struck courtesy of a seventh-minute error by Manchester City's Roque Santa Cruz, while Lawrence added a second six minutes before the break.
Lucas Barrios pulled one back for the visitors 13 minutes into the second half, but Ireland were not to be denied despite coming under late pressure.
