Keane suffers for Irish fans

Ireland captain Robbie Kean said he regrets the team let down their supporters after a 2-0 defeat against Italy mean they exited the tournament without a point.

"It's a shame we couldn't pick up a result for our supporters which they deserved," he told the BBC. "We played well tonight and of course we are disappointed not to have done something in this group. We were punished by free-kicks again tonight which is strange because normally we are good in defending free-kicks. Now we will have to see amongst the elder players who is going to retire."
