Moroccan international Youssouf Hadji has completed his return to Rennes, the French first division side confirmed on Wednesday.
The 31-year-old striker, who played for Rennes between 2005 and 2007, scored eight goals in 26 matches for Nancy last season.
"I know the place well and a lot of people at this club," said Hadji, who will cost Rennes 1.7 million euros ($2.45m).
"That will help my integration. I'm very happy to come back here. The club qualifies for the Europa League on a regular basis and is ambitious every year."
Rennes, who have qualified for the group stage of the Europa League, are currently fifth in Ligue 1 after four matches.
