Draw leaves Zaragoza in trouble
Monday May 12 2008 09:42

Real Zaragoza are in the relegation zone with only one match of the season remaining after they were held to a 2-2 draw by champions Real Madrid.

Zaragoza took the lead through Ricardo Oliveira only for Ruud van Nistelrooy to equalise shortly afterwards.

Robinho put Real ahead against the run of play with 13 minutes left only for Sergio Fernandez's late goal to ensure the spoils were shared.

Zaragoza's cause was not helped by Huelva's impressive 2-0 win at Almeria. Ten-man Huelva moved out of the bottom three thanks to goals by Jesus Vazquez and Florent Sinama-Pongolle.

Osasuna also moved above Zaragoza thanks to a narrow 2-1 success against relegated Murcia.

Dady headed Osasuna into an early lead before Juanfran doubled their advantage in the second half. Abel claimed a late consolation goal for the visitors.

Valencia are safe after thrashing rock-bottom Levante 5-1. David Villa grabbed a hat-trick while Juan Mata and Miguel Angel Angulo were also on the scoresheet. Jose Serrano grabbed Levante's sole consolation effort.

Villarreal ensured they will finish second after beating free-falling Espanyol 2-0 thanks to goals by Javi Venta and Robert Pires while Atletico Madrid could leapfrog Barcelona and clinch third spot after beating Deportivo 1-0.

Atletico booked their place in the Champions League qualifiers thanks to a strike by Diego Forlan on the stroke of half-time.

Barcelona's woeful form continued as they crashed to a 3-2 home defeat to Mallorca, who move up to seventh.

Barca led 2-0 after goals from Thierry Henry and Samuel Eto'o but Mallorca pulled one back midway through the second half when Borja Valero netted and Pierre Webo grabbed the equaliser.

Barca had midfielder Edmilson sent off in stoppage time and there was still time for Dani Guiza to score a dramatic winner for the islanders - his 26th goal of the season.

Sevilla beat their city rivals Real Betis 2-0 to secure a place in the UEFA Cup with Brazil striker Luis Fabiano and Argentine defender Federico Fazio on target.

Racing Santander are sixth after drawing 0-0 at Athletic Bilbao while Getafe are safe from the drop after their stalemate at Valladolid.
