Contini set for Zaragoza

Relegation-threatened Real Zaragoza are on the verge of completing a deal to bring Napoli defender Matteo Contini to La Romareda.

Zaragoza, who are currently just one off the foot of the La Liga are desperate to bolster a defence that has conceded 33 goals in ten away games so far this term.

Napoli's sporting director Riccardo Bigon told Radio Marte: "Contini is very close to Zaragoza and the negotiations should be concluded on Wednesday.

"There will be no substitute, as our intention was to trim down the squad as we had seven defenders for just three places."

Since beating Almeria 2-1 at the beginning of November, Zaragoza have taken only three points from their last ten league games and were held to a goalless draw by rock-bottom Xerez earlier this month.
