Netherlands midfielder Rafael van der Vaart is confident that he still has a future at Real Madrid, despite the Spanish giants having snapped up Mesut Ozil from Werder Bremen.
The 27-year-old Dutchman has struggled to hold down a regular starting spot during two seasons at the Bernabeu, but remains upbeat about his prospects under new head coach Jose Mourinho.
He told Marca: "Ozil's arrival does not signify my departure. I don't want to leave the club and I want to continue this season.
"Nobody at the club has told me I am out.
"For me his arrival is not a problem. I need to fight for my place in the team, which is a positive for Real because we are at the same club.
"I am used to fighting against big names for a place in the starting eleven and this year is no exception."
