Valdano: Real ready for battle

Real Madrid general manager Jorge Valdano has said that his side are prepared to take their title challenge with Barcelona all the way this season.

Los Galacticos currently trail Pep Guardiola's men by five points at the top of the table and although Valdano expects a tough fight, he believes they will remain in the race.

Speaking to Marca, he said: "Barca don't lose and that forces us not to drop points. Barca are currently enjoying a miracle generation.

"It is very difficult when a single team has Xavi, Iniesta and Messi.

"Real Madrid have known from the first minute that Barca posed a major challenge.

"We know who we are competing with and we're going to fight until the end of this season and next. Madrid only play to win."
