Ronaldo sorry for red card

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has apologised following his red card in the La Liga victory against Almeria on Saturday.

The world's most expensive player was at his pivotal best during the game as he set up the first goal and scored himself.

However, he missed a penalty during the 4-2 success although Karim Benzema followed up by scoring the rebound.

The Portugal man picked up his first yellow card by taking his shirt off after his goal and received his marching orders when he kicked out at Juanma Ortiz after a touchline spat.

Talking to AS soon after the game, he said: "Taking off my shirt was an instinctive reaction.

"I know that I made a mistake but I'm human. I didn't want to do it.

"These are things that happen in football and I hope to learn from them. I've apologised to my team-mates."
