Real ready for Benzema absence

Karim Benzema looks set to miss Real Madrid's next two matches against Xerex and Lyon after injuring his left leg in training.

The France international's absence coincides with Cristiano Ronaldo's return to the team after he served his two-match suspension.

The 22-year-old has flattered to deceive following last summer's switch to Real from Lyon, scoring eight goals in 17 starts and six appearances from the substitute's bench.

There was some good news for boss Manuel Pellegrini though as German defender Christoph Metzelder and Argentinian defender Ezequiel Garay have been able to return to training.
