Sporting director Emilio Butragueno has played down the significance of Real Madrid heading into the first Clasico derby of the season as La Liga leaders.
Real travel to Barcelona on Sunday evening for a mouth-watering showdown looking down on the Spanish and European champions from their new position at the top of the table.
Barca slipped one point off the pace set by the Santiago Bernabeu club following their 1-1 draw with Atletico Bilbao on Sunday evening.
"A programme said on Monday that we would go into the Camp Nou as leaders," said Butragueno.
"This is good for us and although the team is under construction, we are working better every game and Cristiano Ronaldo could also return, which would give us great strength.
"To be leaders does not make us favourites. Barca are playing at home, they will have the support of their fans.
"It will be a difficult game for us, but also for them - above all it will be a game with a huge emotional aspect."
