Real Madrid and Villarreal both won on Sunday to ensure the La Liga title race will last at least one more week.
Real eased to a 3-0 victory against Athletic Bilbao 3-0 while Villarreal won 1-0 at Real Betis so, with four games of the season left, the side from the capital are ten points ahead of their closest rivals.
Javier Saviola, Arjen Robben and Gonzalo Higuain all found the net for Real while midfielder Marcos Senna scored the only goal of the match for the Yellow Submarine at mid-table Betis.
Real Zaragoza are in grave danger of being relegated after dropping into the bottom three as a result of their battling 1-1 draw at Espanyol.
Zaragoza had to come from behind before rescuing a point from the game after Albert Riera had put Espanyol in front just before the hour. Ricardo Oliveira equalised with an 84th-minute penalty.
Huelva eased out of the bottom three with a 2-0 win against Levante, a result that condemned the hapless visitors to relegation. Ersen Martin and Javier Camunas scored the goals that lifted Huelva two points clear of Zaragoza.
Osasuna are in trouble after losing 3-0 to a Valencia side seemingly revitalised following Ronald Koeman's departure.
David Villa broke the deadlock from the penalty spot with further goals being scored by Mata and Joaquin after the break.
Atletico Madrid remain fourth despite being held to a 1-1 draw by Getafe. Uruguayan striker Juan Albin put Getafe ahead only for Sergio Aguero to equalise before the break.
Mallorca beat Racing Santander 3-1 while Valladolid edged past Almeria 1-0 thanks to Jonathan Sesma' stoppage-time effort.
