Real allow Drenthe to join Hercules on loan

Real Madrid have allowed their Netherlands international Royston Drenthe to join newly-promoted Hercules on a season-long loan deal.

Drenthe has spent the last three years at the Bernabeu but has struggled to become a first-team regular.

Real boss Jose Mourinho had been keen to offload the 23-year-old so that he could whittle his squad down to the required 25 players.

Drenthe has started just 18 matches for Real following his transfer from Feyenoord and made 39 appearances from the substitute's bench.
