Ramos to stay at right-back

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has said that he would prefer to continue playing at right-back even though Pepe's long-term injury lay-off means a centre-half berth needs filling.

The European giants will have to reshuffle their pack after the Portugal man suffered a knee injury at Valencia over the weekend and the rumours suggest Ramos will act as cover.

However, he insists it would be a better idea to fill the void with another player.

Speaking to AS, he said: "I have adapted to the full-back position and my mentality is to continue in that position because there is a World Cup ahead.

"I want to stay there, because I'm in the right shape physically. If the coach or club decides that's where I play I would love it but what I really want is to play regularly."
