Ramos defends shamed Pepe

Real Madrid coach Juande Ramos has leapt to the defence of Pepe after claiming his red card for violent conduct during Tuesday's dramatic 3-2 victory over Getafe was out of character. The Portugal international twice kicked out at Javier Casquero after conceding a late penalty and was shown a straight red card. Pepe had earlier been booked in a stormy game, but Ramos claims his later violent conduct was purely accidental. "Pepe lost his cool but he did not mean to attack Casquero," he said. "He was more upset with himself and he only wanted to kick at the air in anger but at no moment did he intend to hurt his opponent. "I am sure that he is very sorry and in these situations we should forgive him for losing his temper because a lot was at stake."
