Netherlands midfielder Rafael van der Vaart has finalised his switch from German club Hamburg to Spanish giants Real Madrid.
The 25-year-old former Ajax playmaker has signed a five-year contract at the Bernabeu after passing a medical and agreeing personal terms.
Van der Vaart had spent three seasons with Hamburg, scoring 36 goals in 89 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit.
The Dutchman told Marca: "I will fight for a place in the team, but Madrid has many stars and if I end up on the bench that won't be a problem.
"Madrid has one objective this season - to win the Champions League. I can help them. The important thing is to play.
"As everybody knows I have always wanted to move to Spain because I have a strong bond with that country.
"Now I'm going to play for Real Madrid, it's a dream come true."
