Perez to continue as Real president

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has had his mandate extended to 2017 after no other candidates declared themselves for presidential elections that were due to take place later this month.
"There has not been more than one candidate declared for this Committee and by virtue of Article 40, part E, point two of the reigning statutes for members of the club, Florentino Perez is proclaimed president along with his Board of Directors," said a statement on the club's website on Sunday.
This will be Perez's fourth term as Real president as he previously won elections in 2000 and 2004, then after resigning in 2006, returned to win again in 2009.
His famous Galactico transfer policy during the early part of the last decade brought mixed results despite the capture of some of the world's best players such as Zinedine Zidane, Figo and Ronaldo.
And his new reign will begin with the search for a new manager as Perez announced earlier this month that Jose Mourinho's three year spell in charge would come to an end.
Paris Saint-Germain boss Carlo Ancelotti is the current favourite to take over and whoever takes the job faces a tough task with winning Madrid's 10th European Cup the top priority in Perez's new mandate.
An inauguration ceremony will take place on Tuesday to launch the 66-year-old's new four-year term in charge.
