Mourinho: I'm not Harry Potter

Jose Mourinho insists he is 'no Harry Potter' and unable to weave a magic wand at Real Madrid.

The Portuguese coach saw his new side held to a goalless opening La Liga draw by Real Mallorca on Sunday and has suggested Los Blancos will take a little time to fully adapt to his style of football.

"I am a coach, not Harry Potter. He is a magician. Magic is fiction and I live for football, which is real," declared the former Internazionale and Chelsea boss.

Mourinho replaced Manuel Pellegrini in the Santiago Bernabeu hot-seat in July and supplemented the first-team squad rather than made wholesale changes.

Germany World Cup stars Mesut Ozil and Sami Khedira, experienced defender Ricardo Carvalho and rising stars Angel di Maria and Sergio Canales were all added to the ranks.

Mourinho added: "I've only been in Madrid for two months. Do you know how many training sessions I have had with everyone together, including the new signings? Not even ten.

"My profile as a coach is different to what it has been in recent years. If things go badly I have to leave. I would have one of the best clubs in the world waiting for me.

"This personal stability allows me to say I am the ideal person to be at Madrid because I fear nothing. Madrid need stability and I am here to give it."
