Madrid move on from stamp
17 Mar 2010 - 08:22:49
Real Madrid will not make an official complaint about Valladolid defender Nivaldo.
Nivaldo was shown on television replays to have stamped on the shin of a grounded Cristiano Ronaldo during last weekend's 4-1 victory by the capital club at the Nuevo Jose Zorilla.
The Valladolid defender avoided punishment from the referee and Real are keen to move on from the incident.
"We are not going to pursue any action against Nivaldo. The match is already in the past and we need to think of the next one," declared director general Jorge Valdano.
"We know that we elicit comments of all kinds from all kinds of places and I hope that this changes some of the things said in the press about Real Madrid.
"We have an obligation with all clubs to maintain amiability and we do not want any acts of aggression against anyone.
"When a match is done we speak of the incidents, but we hope to turn a page when there is no grave injury."
