Jese proving to be a Real talent

You could be forgiven for not knowing who Jesé is, the 20 year old Spanish forward has been gaining a lot of column inches in Spain over his recent performances for Real Madrid. Given that Torres and Soldado are out of favour at their clubs, there have been calls for Jesé to receive an international call up.

Jesé has scored 4 goals and provided 1 assist in his last 5 games, he has only started 2 games for Real so far this season, but that’s hardly surprising given the plethora of attacking talent available to Ancelotti. In 14 appearances in La Liga this season Jesé has scored 4 and supplied 4 assists, perhaps most notably he came on to score in El Classico, he is clearly not afraid of the biggest stage.

His performance in the Copa del Ray against Espanyol earned him a position in the team for the game against Bilbao, his selection was justified as he scored in the 1-1 draw. He started the first leg of the semi-final against Atletico Madrid and scored, he added another goal to his tally in the league game against Villarreal, where he played instead of the suspended Ronaldo.

He has averaged 2 shots per game in his last 4 starts, proving how clinical he is, scoring 4 goals in the process. He’s been fouled an average of 1.5 times per game, showing how defenders are scared of the pace that he possesses and the threat which he presents to them.

Whilst his impact at Real has been limited to substitute appearances mainly, when he’s s been given a place in the starting team Jesé has shone and looked more than adept at playing at the top level. He’s a real talent and has moved ahead of Morata, who was considered to be the next big thing at Real, in the pecking order.

It might prove to be too early for him to be called up to the Spain squad, his performances have certainly merited opening the discussion. If he continues in this current vein of form, del Bosque will have a difficult decision to make, whatever the outcome Jesé is certainly one who has a bright future ahead of him.
