Higuain plays Barca clash down

Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain has played down the importance of Saturday's 'El Clasico' showdown with fierce rivals Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The on-song Argentina forward believes it will allow the victors to hold the edge in the La Liga title run-in but with another seven fixtures to play, he thinks it will not decide who will win the championship at the end of the campaign.

Speaking to AS, he said: "It's a vital game, but not decisive.

"Winning a Clasico gives you a big morale boost for the games that follow, (but) there are 21 points left afterwards, which are enough to say that the game will not be definitive."
