Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has said he is ready to put a disappointing first season in Spain behind him and fire the club towards the La Liga title this term.
The Frenchman was also omitted from his country's World Cup squad this summer after notching just nine times for the Santiago Bernabeu giants following his big-money switch from Lyon, but is confident he can help Jose Mourinho's side in their quest for honours.
"I have forgotten about everything that happened last year," he told the club's official website. "I am convinced that I am going to score a lot of goals. I am headstrong and I will work hard to help my team with titles.
"Mourinho is a great coach. He speaks to me on a regular basis, which is something I appreciate.
"Last season was very difficult for me because it was the first time I played outside my own country. My family and I are now much more adjusted to the city. I am happy to be here."
