Ancelotti: Ronaldo going nowhere

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has told Manchester United there is "no question" Cristiano Ronaldo will be moving on any time soon.

Ronaldo netted the first two goals of his new manager's reign during a 45-minute appearance in Sunday's 6-0 win at Bournemouth.

Talk soon turned to the importance of a player so revered on these shores from his time at Old Trafford - to where some have tipped him to return before long.

Former Chelsea boss Ancelotti said: "I think Ronaldo is the most important player in this team because he is the player with the best quality.

"I think we will help him every time to do his best because if he does that every time we have a great opportunity for this season. His future is at Real Madrid, there is no question about this."

Despite the result, Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe hopes the game will have positive implications for the club in the future.

Sami Khedira, Gonzalo Higuain, Angel Di Maria and Casemiro added to Ronaldo's double in front of a capacity crowd, but Howe was upbeat about the relationship that developed between the clubs over the weekend and hopes it may work in their favour further down the line.

"I got the chance to chat to Carlo Ancelotti this afternoon which was a real treat for me," he said. "Hopefully they enjoyed the game here and hopefully we can build good links between the clubs.

"You can't have too many good relationships with people in foreign leagues and who knows what the future holds? Certainly they've been very good with us and hopefully the relationship between the clubs has improved."

The Cherries started strongly and more than held their own for the first 20 minutes before the goal rush began and despite the quality of the opponents Howe revealed his dressing room was still an unhappy one at the final whistle.
