Real Betis in takeover talks

Real Betis could be on the verge of a takeover by Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al-Nuaimi of the United Arab Emirates.

The ruler of Ajman, one of the seven emirates comprising the UAE, has revealed he is in advanced negations with the Andalucian club over a takeover at the Manuel Ruiz de Lopera.

"I want the fans to know that he is very interested in purchasing them and his representatives are working on the operation," said a spokesperson for the sheikh.

"There are still a number of meetings that need to take place before a final agreement can be reached. If everything goes normally, then this operation will become a reality.

"We are looking for a meeting to take place in London at the beginning of April so that we can close the matter."
