Real Betis coach Paco Chaparro is confident that he can help Mexico forward Nery Castillo get his career on track if he chooses to make the move to Spain.
The 24-year-old is set to leave Manchester City in the next few days, with Roma also interested in the talented striker.
Chaparro said: "The aim is for him to be a crucial player for us, but that is not down to me because he will have to be the one to prove it on the pitch.
"We have signed him knowing that he has spent a couple of years not being able to give his best because he has not adapted well, but here he will settle into the country because the language is the same.
"He is well known in Mexico, but he is not yet famous in Europe. If he wants to win a place in this team he will have to be at his best."
Meanwhile, Betis have confirmed the signing of right-back Nelson on a five-year contract from Benfica.
