Betis secure Garcia signing

Real Betis have landed Spain international striker Sergio Garcia from Real Zaragoza for a fee in excess of 10million euros.

Zaragoza had revealed their determination to keep hold of the 25-year-old following their relegation from La Liga last season.

But Betis upped their interest in a player who was part of Spain's successful Euro 2008 squad and sealed a deal before the transfer deadline closed on Monday.

Zaragoza confirmed the departure in a statement on their website in which they also announced the signing of two players.

"Real Zaragoza have paid the buy-out clause of Racing Santander player Jorge Lopez and have signed the goalkeeper Toni Doblas on a free," it read.

"Also Real Zaragoza have transferred Diego Milito to Genoa, Sergio Garcia to Betis, Adrian Ripa to Huesca and Peter Luccin to Racing Santander after reaching satisfactory agreements for all parties."
