Still Room For Real Improvement - Sergio Ramos

Real Madrid may be through to the knockout stages of the Champions League with two games to spare but Sergio Ramos admits there is plenty of room for improvement.

A first-half goal from Nacho sealed a 1-0 win over Paris St Germain on Tuesday night and ensured Real's progress from Group A.

But defender Ramos said in the Spanish media: "We played better there (in Paris) and we didn't win and today we played worse and got the three points. Football's like that.

"We need to be happy because we've picked up three points against a very difficult opponent. But we have a lot to reflect on. We need to reflect on the mistakes we made."

He added: "These sorts of games against a great opponent are always very difficult. They've had a lot of possession and they also caused us problems on the counter."

Nacho had only been on the field for three minutes as a first-half substitute for the injured Marcelo when he volleyed in a deflected Toni Kroos shot past the poorly-positioned PSG keeper Kevin Trapp from an acute angle.

"The bad news is the injury to Marcelo, who was in his best form," saidd Ramos. "We hope that it's not anything serious and he's ready for the Clasico (against Barcelona)."

PSG came agonisingly close to equalising a minute from time but former Real winger Angel di Maria's free-kick came back off the crossbar.

Di Maria told uefa.com: "We delivered our best match of the season. An outstanding display.

"We made a mistake and were punished. We played 10 times better than Real. We'll carry on that way."
