Real Madrid coach Rafa Benitez wants his side to be clinical at Malmo

Real Madrid coach Rafa Benitez is looking for more "precision" in front of goal on Wednesday when his team takes on Malmo FF.

The Spanish giants go into their Champions League encounter in Sweden having scored just three times in their last three games.

Terrific goalkeeping from Carlos Kameni frustrated Real in Saturday's goalless draw at home to Malaga.

Benitez is hoping his team can rediscover the attacking flair that saw them clinch a 4-0 triumph over Shakhtar Donetsk in their Group A opener on September 15, when Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat-trick.

Since then, Ronaldo has failed to score.

"Against Malaga, it was not a matter of energy but rather of precision," Benitez said on his club's official website. "The players on the pitch had enough quality but the goalkeeper had a great game.

"I think that the numbers, 31 shots of goal, and the chances, should be enough to get a goal at least, if not more.

"In such situations, the only thing to do is try and create more.

"It is also important to manage the last few minutes better so that you can have one or two chances that completely change the game and the result.

"I must reiterate that we are still at the beginning of the season. We need to keep working, create chances and be more accurate."

Real's weekend's result dropped them from the top of the La Liga standings into third place, two points adrift of leaders Villarreal.

Real will be without injured quartet James Rodriguez, Danilo, Gareth Bale and Sergio Ramos.

The four players have not been included in the squad for the encounter at the Swedbank Stadion.

Swedish champions Malmo lost 2-0 at Paris St Germain in their group opener and are hoping to clinch a point on Wednesday.

"This is a fantastic game," Malmo captain Markus Rosenberg said to AS newspaper. "This is our second year in the Champions League and we learned a lot last term.

"We expect a very difficult game.

"In order for us to take a point, we need to be at our best and hope Real have a bad day.

"The fact that Real will not be at full strength is good news for us.

"The more players they have unavailable the better for us.

"It could be that they will also rest some players in view of the derby."

Real take on Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon stadium on Sunday in La Liga.

Rosenberg once played in Spain's top flight with Racing Santander and faced Real and knows what it is to score against them in Europe.

"I already scored against them in the Champions League while playing for Werder Bremen," said the 33-year-old forward.

Age Hareide's side was held to a goalless result at Halmstad on Saturday and is fifth in the domestic standings, nine points clear of league leaders Goteborg.

The hosts are hoping to recover defender Rasmus Bengtsson, who is doubtful with an ankle injury.
