Mourinho pursued by fans in China

Jose Mourinho was forced to discard his usual cool-man image on Monday as he broke out into a sprint to get away from hundreds of screaming fans pursuing him in a packed Chinese shopping mall.

The stylish Real Madrid boss is leading his side in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou for a pre-season friendly, and police and local security have kept close guard of the Spanish giants to keep away eager fans.

Real's sizeable security escort had hoped to avoid Chinese supporters waiting outside the team's plush hotel by smuggling Mourinho through an adjoining shopping centre.

But the ruse quickly turned to farce as about 200 fans immediately recognised Mourinho, forcing him to sprint through the Tee Mall in the centre of the city, with police, security and fans in hot pursuit.

Real play Guangzhou Evergrande on Wednesday.
