Karim Benzema has attempted to plead his case for a France recall - via a video of his goals and the music of Cat Stevens.
The Real Madrid striker has not played for his country since being questioned by police in November in connection to an alleged blackmail attempt against France team-mate Mathieu Valbuena, over a sextape reportedly showing Valbuena and his partner.
Reports in France suggest the country's football federation (FFF) will rule on Wednesday or Thursday on whether Benzema is eligible for selection in their European Championship squad. France will host the tournament this summer.
Ahead of the prospective decision, Benzema wrote on his Facebook page: "Whatever happens... Once a Blue, always a Blue!"
The post was accompanied by a four-minute video showing a selection of Benzema's 27 international goals and featuring prominently his selection as captain for last year's friendly against Brazil.
It was soundtracked by the 1971 hit Peace Train by Stevens, now known as Yusuf Islam.
The song was seemingly chosen for the significance of its lyrics, with the opening verse announcing: "I've been happy lately, thinking about the good things to come/ And I believe it could be, something good has begun."
The first chorus adds: "Out on the edge of darkness, there rides a peace train/ Oh, peace train take this country, come take me home again."
Benzema has won the Primera Division and the Champions League with Real as well as twice lifting the Copa del Rey.
He won four Ligue 1 titles and a Coupe de France with his previous club Lyon and was part of the France side which won the European Under-17 Championship in 2004.
