Five goalkeepers were shortlisted on Monday for the FIFPro world team of the year for 2013, voted for by 50,000 members of the international players' union.
The five goalkeepers in the running for the award are Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus/Italy), Iker Casillas (Real Madrid/Spain), Petr Cech (Chelsea/Czech Republic), Manuel Neuer (Bayern Munich/Germany) and Victor Valdes (Barcelona/Spain).
Casillas has been named in the FIFPro team of the year every year since 2008 and is shortlisted again despite having lost his place at Real Madrid.
The defenders, midfielders and forwards nominated will be announced over the course of the week.
The team of the year will be announced at the FIFA Ballon d'Or gala in Zurich, Switzerland on January 13.
