Fabio Coentrao and James Rodriguez make throw-ins look really complicated

Football is so stats based these days that there’s almost nothing that there isn’t a stat about – except throw-ins. Throw-ins are lame. Occasionally someone will do a foul throw and that can be funny/aggravating depending on if it’s your team, but we’re willing to say that throw-ins are largely irrelevant – possibly more so than anything else on the pitch.

Fabio Coentrao and James Rodriguez are campaigning to change that, and got their mission under way as Real Madrid took on Almeria tonight.

OK, so it doesn’t take much out of the ordinary to make a throw-in interesting – but have you ever seen that before? Such unity. So pleasing.

But football’s not that complicated guys. Rodriguez even looks at Coentrao before he throws it.

How this happened, we don’t know. But we’re glad that it did. And Rodriguez did go on to score in the game, so at least he’s doing his job right alongside doing his job wrong.
