Ancelotti handed touchline ban

Carlo Ancelotti will not be on the bench in Real Madrid's final two Primera Division games after being handed a two-match touchline ban.

The Competition Committee of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) announced on Wednesday it has punished the Italian coach for his actions in Saturday's 2-2 draw against Valencia.

Spanish referee Carlos Clos Gomez wrote on his report that after the game, Ancelotti "from 30 metres away applauded insistently and visibly as a sign of disapproval for his officiating" - a violation of article 117 of the disciplinary code.

Real are second in the standings and four points adrift of league leaders Barcelona.

They travel to Espanyol on Sunday before ending the campaign at home to Gefate on May 23.

Getafe's Roberto Lago will not feature against Real Madrid as the Spanish defender has been slapped with a four-match ban for violent conduct.

Lago was sent off during Sunday's 2-0 defeat at Rayo Vallecano after repeatedly punching Rayo's Javier Aquino in an off-the ball incident.

Real Sociedad coach David Moyes will face a selection dilemma for Sunday's home game against Granada with goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli and midfielder pair Esteban Granero and Ruben Pardo all banned for one match.
