Alvaro Morata Hopes To Hit New Heights On Real Madrid Return

Alvaro Morata believes he has matured and improved during his time at Juventus but feels returning to Real Madrid will help him reach his full potential.

Morata was presented by Madrid on Monday after rejoining the European champions this summer for a reported 32million euros (£27million) - two years after leaving the club for Juve in a 20million euros deal.

During his time in Italy Morata helped Juve twice win the league and cup double as well as reach the 2015 Champions League final, where he scored in a 3-1 defeat to Barcelona.

Now 23, Morata believes Madrid fans will see an improved version of the player that left the club - but hopes his best is yet to come.

Speaking at his presentation, the Madrid-born forward said: "It's a day of maximum happiness for me. It's been a long wait of two years but at times you need to mature. I'm here now, home once again, to give it everything and stay here as long as possible.

"I've changed a lot in these two years. I left without having played in big games, without the experience that I have now, to grow as a footballer and a person.

"When you leave home seeking life experiences, and more so at one of the best clubs in Europe like in my case, you grow. I've matured and gained what I lacked to play at Real Madrid.

Morata had been linked with a possible move away from the Bernabeu this summer, with Arsenal reportedly among his suitors, but the Spain international is pleased Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has placed his faith in him and is determined to repay that trust.

However, while he is keen to make a big impact on his return to the home-town club, he is also aware just how hard it will be for him to break into a strikeforce consisting of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema.

He said of a possible summer sale: "It's been very calm. If they wanted me here, I was going to be here. The coach and the club have given me confidence.

"It would have been very easy for the club to have sold me. They would have got money, but they have bet on me."

Looking ahead, he added: "This is the most difficult place to play and score goals, but I'm going to give it everything to play here. I'm a Madrid fan and I can't wait to play at the Santiago Bernabeu again.

"I've come to win titles. I'm in the best place to win and improve.

"He (Zidane) has given me confidence and of course the three players who play up front are in a different world. I will work hard and try to score a lot of goals, although this is a football team and I cannot only think about myself, if I did I would be playing tennis or chess.

"It's up to the coach. I would always like to play."
