Wales chief considers Church call

The 20-year-old striker won his first cap as a second-half substitute in last week's 1-0 friendly win over Estonia in Llanelli. Wales head into Saturday's World Cup Group Four qualifier, which will be played in the searing heat of the Azeri capital Baku, with a squad decimated by injuries. Church has impressed in training, and could well partner Robert Earnshaw up front with Toshack missing Craig Bellamy and Ched Evans through injury. Toshack said: "Simon is now in the frame. He has impressed recently and has worked hard with Brian Flynn in the Under-21 set-up. "He has joined a couple of other lads - Evans and Sam Vokes - as becoming an emerging front line for us. "These three have come through over the last 18 months. And Simon got goals for the Under-21s against England and forced his way into Reading's side that contested the play-offs. "He has done well and is certainly in our thoughts now for his full debut having won his first cap on Friday as a late substitute against Estonia." Toshack also admitted he faces a tough decision between Wayne Hennessey and Boaz Myhill for the goalkeeper's jersey. He said: "Myhill has had a great season. He's relieved that Hull have stayed in the top flight and is a super professional. "We also have high hopes for Hennessey who has had a great season too, helping Wolves into the Premier League. "Boaz was playing and in full training up to a couple of weeks ago while Hennessey has been out of action for about five weeks, which gives us a problem. "We have watched them both in training and I have not made my mind up yet. Considering some of the really tough decisions I have had to make, we at least have two top goalkeepers to choose from." Wales are without 10 players through injury, and will have to rely on a very young side against Azerbaijan, with Cardiff's Joe Ledley captaining his first competitive international having worn the armband against Estonia.
